Science Lesson For The Day: Avoid Drinking With Meals
Drinking with meals dilutes the acid and enzymes in the gut that dissolve food, impairing digestion in the process. Drinking should be done between meals.
Blogspot is acting weird. Sorry Nadine and Berry Bird. I just checked your comments and hit publish and they vanished. Maybe they'll come up later. I hope.
Anywho, according to doctors, if you chew your food enough (a lot!), your mouth creates enough saliva to get the food down sufficiently. I drink lots of water with my meals but guess I shouldn't be. I eat fast and furious. Half chewed is better than not chewed at all . . . . . right?
I also drink lots of water but do try to drink most of it before a meal. Digestive enzymes taken with a meal also help. As well as eating pineapple or papaya, their enzymes help break down protein foods. (or include more raw foods in the diet)
