Hey EG, You may consider changing your name now to Mother Goose? Also, had to help Little Buddy find his thumb. He really needed SOMETHING but could not get the hang of pacifiers. I also learned that encouraging the thumb was better for their brains. Apparently when a baby sucks his thumb it provides tactile stimulation. That means there is sensation in the thumb and in the mouth. This causes different connections in the brain. Pacifiers do not because their is only sensation in the mouth from the pacifier. We were desperate to give him something to soothe his sucking need. Many breastfed babies do not need to have the need to suck as badly as bottle fed babies because they get all the sucking that they need at the breast.
