Well my husband is worse today. He hasn't really slept in 3 days, 15 minutes here and there. He can hardly eat liquids and is starving for everything. The swelling is horrible and getting worse. The Lortab was losing it's effectiveness. He tries to rest but is so swollen and uncomfortable he fears he will suffocate. He can't talk either. I called the Dr. this morning and asked for a different pain medication. The Dr. prescribed vidocin and lidocaine gel. Once he got the vicodin pills down with jello he was starting to feel better. Now he's been resting for awhile. He actually was able to get macaroni & cheese down. He was very appreciative that he could eat something rather than drink something.
Sitting here in a dim kitchen. Just fed baby dinner. Put a bunch of goldfish and sweet potato puffs on the tray. He refuses to pick them up. He just gets more and more worked up. Am I the only mother of a 1 year old in the world that cannot get her child to self-feed? Aghhh! OMG, I couldn't take it anymore. I gave in and shoved a goldfish in his mouth. Daddy needs his rest. His squawking is so loud and piercing. Now he's crying. End post.
P.S. Wonder if I'll get dinner, or get to poop? M-I-L actually asked us if my husband could drive them to the airport on Sunday for a ski trip? WHUH? Unbelievable!!!!! Then they want him to pick them up on get this . . . . . . . . my birthday (February 9th). Combined they make over $200,000. a year (a doctor and a physical therapist). Is it just me or do they have rocks where brains should be?

Ohh, Val, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope these new pain meds help.
I'm glad he's finally able to eat something. As for the self-feeding... Does he ever play with stuff while he's in his high chair? Like little cars or blocks? We often let Ben play in his high chair, so he was used to fiddling with things on his tray. And because he always ended up putting his toys in his mouth, when he first was playing with cheerios up there, they made it in his mouth and he liked them. -- It's probably "just a phase" which isn't helpful or very nice to say, so I'm sorry for saying it. In a couple of weeks, if he's still having issues, I'd call his pediatrician and ask if they have any advice. It's not really a rare problem.
Oh Valarino. Such a horrid time for you. Poor husband in such a state of misery and da bambino being stubborn. I wouldn't worry too much about the self feeding thing. Little man here still has zero interest in self feeding. I tried putting a puff in his mouth a couple of times, but after the time he gagged to the point of puking, we just put the puffs away. I figure he will do things on his own time schedule, which you know is a little screwy because of his prematurity. Give me a call if it would help to vent for a while.
And as for your MIL. WHATEVAH!!! She's such a piece of work. Bleh.
