One Of My Favorite Things

Since I was a small child my mother bought this bread. I have always loved it even then. She would slather it with Hellman's and put fresh lettuce and tomatoes and some type of meat too. The next door neighbor when I was a kid had a huge garden, so we would often get garden fresh veggies to put on our sandwiches. I can still remember her, Mrs. Scanlon. Anyway, not sure if you too are a fan or have even ever had this bread, but it is superior wheat bread. Only you have to keep it the fridge because they use only natural preservatives and it can spoil fast on the counter.

I still love to get Brownberry Wheat Bread even though Arnold bought them out not long ago. I like to toast it and then put plenty of freshly crisped romaine on it, Hellman's (don't be shy), and then vine tomatoes. Won't waste my money on the cheapo cardboard tomatoes that never really ripen or get truly red. Then sometimes I add a meat either Sara Lee Honey Turkey from the deli OR Costco chemical and hormone free rotisserie chicken slices. Then I mash it all down and slice diagonally. Ah, heaven!

Do you have any favorite sandwich combinations or other foods that you buy and throw together fairly frequently. I have been feeling better but many foods that I normally love have not appealed to me. This has, so I have been making these lately. Pretty healthy minus the mayo and the lunch meat. Tell me what grocery foods (or stuff you keep around the house regularly) you love to eat.

*Ooh, also makes a killer toasted, buttered, scrambled egg sandwich. Mmmmmmm good!

Sesame Street Live!!!

OK, I was going to wait to post this until next week, BUT I am so excited I cannot wait any longer. My husband saw a drive they were having for WTTW (our local PBS station), awhile back. They often have incentives geared towards different ages and interests. The incentive that they offered when he was watching were tickets to Sesame Street Live at the Rosemont Horizon in the beginning of May. He got all excited, (funny when a serious cop-type gets all excited about Sesame Street :). And got on the phone instantly and ordered tickets right away. We then become members of WTTW which has many other added perks such as restaurant, museum, B&B/resort discounts, etc.

So the time is nearing and I can hardly wait. We are going to have so much fun! Not sure how shy Little Buddy is going to handle all the excitement. We even have back stage passes for a meet and greet party before the show. Woo Hoo! Although, thinking LB will have issues with the up close and personal of large costumed characters like I always did. Surely, we will have lots of fun watching the show. We have never taken LB to anything like this before not even a movie yet. I'm thinking if it becomes too long we can just stay for awhile and then head out still having gotten our money's worth. Just to see LB watching and enjoying the show should be thrill enough. He LOVES Sesame Street. This tour of Sesame Street Live is called "When Elmo Grows Up."

Then I told cop dad, (hey I like that, think I will keep that one), then I told cop dad to bring lots of cash cause we will be sure to want snackies and shirts too when we're there. I mean, you don't go to Sesame Street Live every day right? Maybe we can even go out to eat on the way there? Or maybe that's overkill for LB, eat at home and save the extra bucks for SSL souvenirs. Through all the number of concerts and exhibits and plays I've been to, I've never been to Rosemont Horizon before. Funny the things that excite you when you are parents :)

OK, now back to the typical Tuesday stuff. Took LB to the pediatrician today cause he refuses to drink milk and eats very little dairy (therefore getting very little calcium). Boy was that fun, taking a fearful 2yo to the doctor. Anyway, he told me to keep trying to push it but then referred me to a dietitian for further advice. Have a Freecycler coming shortly to pick up some generic yogurt that LB won't eat and a loaf of multi grain that I won't eat. I am not that picky but I have my favorite multi grain bread, and the kind I got 'on sale' really sucks. LB just woke up from his nap, and is eating an apple and watching Ruff Ruffman. Not a fan of the show but he does best if he gets a snack and can relax and wake up and watch some PBS before tackling the evening. Feeling increasingly better every day that I haven't taken generic prenatals. AMEN!!!

The Prenatals?

So, after feeling so bad for so long I started to wonder if it was my prenatals rather than just pregnancy symptoms. I was given the generic form of the prenatals I took for the last 3 years a few months before conceiving. They were way cheaper and they were supposedly the exact same thing as the non-generic so I gladly agreed. Then for months I got very sick. It was unreal. I never get that sick that often. But once I conceived, I felt like I never felt before. So horrible, as you may have read in previous posts. The symptoms were many and annoying. So, one day I had had enough and decided to go on the internet and look up the generics and the name brand I was formerly on and see what the difference was. Can you believe that all the "pregnancy symptoms" I was having were listed as side effects of the generic prenatal I was on??? Then I checked the side effects of the name brand prenatal and there were a few small mild ones. I decided to skip my vitamins for one day and see how I felt. I felt GREAT! When I called the pharmacist he told me something that made me wonder. He said that by law the generic form of any drug has to be exactly the same, at least the active ingredients. Hmmm, could that make that big of a difference? ORRRRR, is it that the generics use the same ingredients just a lower quality of them? Then I asked him if I could please get my prescription in name brand form again. He said sure and that it would be good to try it out seeing that I had no trouble taking the name brand for all that time and with my last pregnancy. So I went and traded in my nearly full box of generics that I had just picked up a couple days before for the name brand version.

I began taking the name brands the next day. I did not feel an instant change but a few days later I felt like somebody flipped a switch in me. I had spent the last three months feeling like I had chills, suddenly I was a roasty, toasty sweaty pregnant woman again like last time. Then I felt alot of the nausea leave me. I don't feel like I want specific things to eat all the time like last time (yet, anyways), my appetite is lacking but I do NOT feel like tossing my cookies all day long. My headaches have lessened and are almost gone. It feels like every day that the generics are leaving my system, I feel better? The tinnitus has stopped almost entirely and my energy level has improved dramatically.

I have no idea if anyone out there has ever had a situation like this before with generics verses name brand meds? I have always asked for generics when I go to the pharmacy over the years to save money and because I felt that they were just as effective as the name brands. I'll never do that again with my prenatals for sure.

Feeling much better now. Returning to myself, slowly but surely. Amen! Ooh, think my face is clearing up too? Yeah!

What's On Your Desktop?

This is the latest picture that I have on my desktop. It is usually Botticelli's work "The Birth Of Venus." Would you believe that way back in the 30's-40's they used to have a "clock man" at Marshall Fields in downtown Chicago? He was always setting and checking and winding the old clock. How cool is that? My grandparents and parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, even me and my family (for a short time) lived in Chicago for decades. Both of my parents families owned businesses down there. My mother's parents owned a glass shop and business on Lincoln Avenue for years and her family (which consisted of 5 girls) lived above the shop in an apartment. All the girls learned how to work on glass as they grew up. My father's family owned a variety/toy store. I'm not sure what street it was on but they had a separate residence I believe. Anyway, I always look closely at vintage Chicago pictures with any people in them. Could they be related to me? Chicago history is one of my passions. I even published a book when I was in art school containing all kinds of old family pictures. My grandfather was in a barbershop quartet, my grandmother was in the Sweet Adelines, my great grandfather was a good humor man, and my Great Aunt Clara was a nanny for the Fields family that donated the lions to the Art Institute of Chicago. There is all kinds of bizarre and fascinating facts about my family and their relations to the city of Chicago. I was born in my house in my room on Monticello Ave., on purpose. Then we lived next door to our cousins while we were small and for a few years before we moved out to the suburbs. Do you have any fascinating family facts? What's on your desktop right now? Is it something you love or just a computer logo?

What A Day

So yesterday my husband comes to me and says, "Does my eye look weird?" It did, so I told him. He then started to call around to find out if it sounded like pink eye. Most nurses said no but the doctor's office said to come in because it DID sound like an infection. He went and they gave him eye drops and antibiotics but told him to go to the ophthalmologist to get checked out by him. Then he had no time for that because there was a huge wait there and he had to be at work shortly. So then he went to work. Several officers called in sick so they were below minimums. He had to wear his glasses because of the infection but dropped off his prescription while on duty so he could pick them up right away and start taking them. Then it was a madhouse at work. Three felonies, several traffic stops, an accident, etc. It was a very eventful night to say in the least. Then some of the guys on mids called in sick too. So my hubby being the lowest on the totem pole on afternoons was held over til 3am. Not normally a big problem BUT with the eye infection he had a 9am appointment with the ophthalmologist which he had to cancel. Then with all the craziness, he was never able to pick up the prescriptions either. So, after a very exhausting night and an irritated eye, he ended up getting in bed by about 4am.

This morning, I got up with Little Buddy as usual. We ate breakfast together, then as I was sitting eating mine and LB was happily watching Sesame Street in the living room, I could have sworn I heard water running. That's weird it sounds like it's coming from the laundry room but there is no faucet in there AND the kitchen faucet to my left was off. Awhile later, I had to run something out to the recycle bins in the garage. As I passed through the laundry room I noticed that there was some liquid on the floor. I just wanted to kill the dog, right then and there. But wait, it was everywhere. There is no way all that was from the dog. Oh no, it was from the water heater. Bagh! So I grabbed a bunch of old towels from the rag bin and started to look for a number on the water heater because it said right on the side "12 YEAR WARRANTY." Then the nice lady at GE told me that I had to disconnect the water heater and bring it to Home Depot for a refund. Double Bagh!!! I really didn't want to wake up hubby but I had no choice. So then Mr. Grumpy Pants got up and told me to call the plumber. Which I did but guess what, the plumber threw his shoulder out. So, he called his friend, who is also a plumber. The friend came by and told me he had no problem taking care of everything but that I would have to go with him to Home Depot for all the warranty and paperwork issues. Ok, so unshowered, queasy, and with Little Buddy in tow we headed to Home Depot. Got that all figured out. Picked out the new water heater which was now nearly 8 years later almost $300 more. Can this day get any better? Of course it can, stay tuned. So we get the water heater, the nice plumber lugged it through Home Depot and into his van. We got all the way back home. He took it out of the box and DENTS EVERYWHERE!!!!! Like it had been dropped several times. So we are paying this guy by the hour with money we don't have AND the manager says she doesn't have delivery people at Home Depot but she will refund $75 to our credit card for all our trouble. At this time, Little Buddy was starving and I wasn't about to drag him to Home Depot again. We barely made it through the first trip there. Thank the Lord that we found a bag of M&M's by the checkouts! By this time hubby was up and was going to head over with the plumber. Thank God!

So the plumber is almost done. Hubby had to call in late and then quickly jumped in the shower as I rocked Little Buddy to sleep for his nap. I heard a loud gasp. I was desperately trying not to laugh to myself. I know, such a terrible wife. Then he had to run to PD town where his Dad lives to take a shower. Earlier the doctors office called and I rescheduled his appointment for him for tomorrow morning at 9am. So tricky all this scheduling, they want to dilate his eyes, but he usually has to sleep til at least 8:30 or so. Then the dilation will last about 4-6 hours but then he has to be back at work at 2:45 tomorrow afternoon. They said he can drive with his eyes dilated BUT he should not be on duty at all if they are dilated. Sigh!

So there goes Little Buddy's play set and the new couch which we desperately need and have been putting off FOREVER. Bagh! I'm exhausted with all the running around, dents, plumbing, water, antsy toddler, husband health issues, etc. No nap today either. The plumber is still here and I don't feel like leaving a stranger lurking about the house while I nap PLUS I don't want to be giving out our garage code so he can let himself out. How many hours til bed time? Bagh!

Oh, oops, I just realized I stole the M&M's from Home Depot. They are in the bottom of my purse I never paid for them. Bagh again!!!!! Please don't report me. And a cops wife? Such a loser . . . . . .

Maternity Clothes

I've been slowly pulling out my maternity clothes lately from the giant Rubbermaid bins in the garage. I do not fit in my regular clothes except shirts right now and then those are getting a good stretching. I am starting this pregnancy slightly heavier than when I conceived Little Buddy. It's just amazing to me how much quicker you start to pop out with a second pregnancy. It's both a little depressing cause the first time around you have a little more of a chance to warm up to the fact that your waistline takes a leave of absence, yet also feels a little more rewarding at the same time. I remember when I was pregnant with Little Buddy for months I just looked really fat it the middle. We went to Red Lobster one day and ordered our food. Instead of them pacing each course and bringing each separately, they brought them all at once. We were seated at a 2 person booth and all the food barely fit on the table. There was a WT family next to us, mom, dad, and 2 kids. The dad and mom were really skinny. The dad looks over and says very loudly in my direction, "If I ordered that much food, I'd be that fat too!" I was in tears, I could hardly even finish eating or swallow my food with a lump in my throat. Shortly thereafter, my husband made a loud remark about "the baby," and we didn't hear another peep from that table for the rest of our meal. This time, well 7 weeks in, there is little mistaking what this bulgy stomach is from. Thank God!

I have noticed in the last few years many of the different maternity fashions. Some dressy, some tight, some just casual and comfortable (my favorite), and then some even slutty? So weird, not what I think of when I think of a woman whose body is growing a new little life inside. Anyway, I also find some women wearing maternity clothes that are so tight, I gotta wonder if that's healthy to wear even if they weren't pregnant. I don't think even tiny cute women who barely bubble when they are pregnant look very becoming when their maternity clothes are so tight that you can see every seam, wrinkle, and navel detail through their clothes. I have no idea what is the top of fashion when it comes to maternity because I am a sahm and the last of most of my friends and family to have children so I got bins and bins of maternity hand-me-downs. I do know that whether pregnant or not or top of the trends or hand-me-down, fit is just about one of the biggest priorities when it comes to fashion or dressing yourself. I have read again and again that when you are pregnant you should not wear anything that is too tight in the stomach. I say it's always better to err on the side of caution and leave a bit to the imagination when it comes to fit, cut, and style. Not baggy, sloppy but definitely not the time to sport a camel toe in skinny jeans with stilettos and a skin tight tank top. Least that's where I'm coming from. Here is a picture of a very nice maternity outfit that I found on the Internet. Not too loose, but not too tight. Fashionable yet something you could wear to work or to a moms play group with your older kids. It looks like something you could piece together from some reasonably priced clothing from Target or Walmart.

So, what do you think? Am I totally from the dark ages about the skin tight clothes? There are just so few people that can dress like that when not pregnant like Laura Petrie or Audrey Hepburn. The extremely tall, thin, and beautiful and then that's just when they aren't even pregnant. The maternity fashions from back in those days were very pleaty and tenty and modest. Guess I'm not a fan of the rock star maternity clothes, probably more a fan of Old Navy or Gap look when it comes to maternity clothing. Tell me your opinion. Have you seen any of the "hooker" maternity fashions walking around? Eek!

This One Goes Out To E-Goose

Just had to post after E-Goose's Lily Tomlin quote. I still love these old Edith Ann skits. Forgot that they were from Sesame Street though. Nothing beats the creativity that 70's TV possessed, for sure. Anyone else remember Edith Ann or have any favorite classic Sesame Street skits? Enjoy!

Boy, Was I Wrong

Ya know for years I have had very little sympathy for people with weak stomachs. I don't have one and I think alot of people can internalize issues into a puke. It seems that there are the pukey people and the who seldom if ever puke such as myself. I always thought it was because of the lack of will or a good variety of foods, etc. I don't know. In some girls I've met through the years it almost seemed like an attention thing, a drama scene, "I feel sick." Puh-leaze. Toughen up. I used to think that. I still think that is true for some people and for some age brackets.

I think I later applied alot of this to queasy pregnant women. Like they just knew for some reason that they were supposed to have icky stomachs while pregnant and then had to continually voice it during their pregnancy for attention, sympathy, and babying. I still think that's the case for some pregnant women. It has to be all about them and if they seem totally fine then they just want people to know about the terrible nausea that they have going on for attention. I think there are some girls that I've met that are picky eaters or that don't eat regularly enough that have more nausea issues for those exact reasons, pregnant or not. I still believe that. One of my old bosses when I was much younger got pregnant. She was a vegetarian but only ate dairy and starches most of the time. She was a smoker too. She drank all kinds of diet pop. She was always sick and weak with her pregnancy. Oh, and she seldom took her prenatals because, 'they made her feel bad?' Her doctor told her that she was terribly deficient and that she HAD to eat meat if she refused to compensate for all the other foods that she was lacking, smoking while pregnant, and not taking her prenatals. It was just so pathetic. How selfish. She too was sick all the time with nausea. So as I got older and was constantly in contact through the years with a variety of pregnant women whether related, friends, or coworkers.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe that there are people that despite every effort are just wired that way, whether pregnant or not. That really sucks. I know of 2 people that were so ill during their pregnancies it almost cost them their babies. That must be horrible. I cannot imagine what that must be like. My first pregnancy with Little Buddy was actually very nice, at least until the very end when it was really quite miserable. I was starving all the time. I ate everything whenever I wanted it. I was happy, laughing all the time (to the point of tears and wet pants) with intermittent crying spurts. I was smooth, shiny, and slept like a rock. I only felt a little queasy once or twice and it was mainly because of the heightened sense of smell that made my stomach turn, but I never once threw up my entire pregnancy til after birth in the hospital room. My biggest complaint was lots of heartburn and TUMS was my best friend.

Anyway, this pregnancy has not been as pleasant. I feel queasy all the time. Some days are worse than others. Some times I eat fruit and feel yucky, sometimes I eat soup and want to hurl, another day I had loads of green beans and scallops and felt like a million bucks. It is soooo weird. I rarely feel all excited about food, and if you know me at all, this is just NOT me at all. I am very much a foodie. I love food, all kinds. I eat pretty healthy but do love my sweets and a good filet, seafood, etc. Now, nothing sounds very good. Then if it does, we go to get it or make it at home and then I feel all grossed out smelling it or seeing it and can hardly eat it. OR if I get all fired up and it looks delicious, it really is never quite as delicious as food normally is for me. Then, if I do eat something that I was dying for and enjoyed while eating. Shortly after eating, I feel all nauseous and bloaty for the next 2-3 hours. This sucks! This must be what those poor women must feel like with all the nausea. While I never actually puke, I often feel that if I did I might just feel better? So my apologies for all the women that were really ill and I thought to myself were being sissies. This does not apply to the 2 women that I know who were terribly ill during their pregnancies at all, just many others. I am not a puker and can go years and years in between puking. It is really a gift I feel. Then suddenly I do and I feel so glad because I know that I will again have many pukeless years ahead of me.

Last night hubby asked me to pick up some grillables and fixins at the grocery store. By mid shopping trip I just felt grossed out by the meat and other foods and exhausted. I felt that I had to force myself to eat dinner . . . . . . EVEN DESSERT????? Never before in my life have I ever had to force myself to eat dessert being my favorite part of life. Well, unless it was lemon bars or something else that I really don't like such as a citrus dessert or dark chocolate with fruit themed dessert or something like that and the baker was going to be truly crushed if I said, "no thanks."

Yes, with this pregnancy I have nausea (without vomiting, so far), headaches, dizziness, hot flashes, tinnitus, complete and utter exhaustion, achiness all over, no energy, restlessness (during nap time or bed time), zits ALL OVER?, wirey hair?, cold one minute and hot the next, oh, and I stink? Not sure what that's all about but it's gross and I cannot stand how I smell. Sorry for so many gross details but I figure we have several moms here and a nurse who read regularly who can most likely relate or understand much of this in some capacity? Hopefully? Anyway, I also feel blue. So weird. I wanted to have another baby so bad and am very happy about this pregnancy but I feel blue, almost postpartum-like. Mealtime rolls around and NOTHING sounds good at all. Then if my husband offers to go and pick something special up for me he brings it back and one look or smell and I feel like I am back at square one. This is so very frustrating for me because I am not a wussy, picky person. I am a mom on the move always up for doing whatever. Loving to play with my Little Buddy all the time and eat and have fun. This whole thing going on with this pregnancy is really driving me nuts cause I just want to sit or lay down and relax. Oh, and to top it off I have had 3 illnesses since conception so I cannot take anything but Tylenol, which I am allergic to. Blagh! Sorry for the pity party, but this is my life right now and I just wanted to air my dirty laundry. Don't want pity just floored by how vastly different this pregnancy is from my first. Betting it's a girl with every ounce of my soul. Yep!

*Ee gads, if this diagram is correct, then I could have 6 more weeks of this queasiness? Tomorrow is only week 10. Oy!!!!!

So Long At The Fair

Last night I turned on the TV just after I laid Little Buddy down for the night. I flipped through the channels as I lay in bed looking for something that was worth my time to watch. I stumbled on Comcast channel 40 (TCM) and instantly was lured into an excellent old thriller which I had never scene before. It starred Jean Simmons and Dirk Bogarde. A woman and her brother are traveling together. The morning after their stay in a hotel she looks for him and he cannot be found. The room he was staying in was the bathroom? Then all staff treat her like she is insane because they keep telling her that she was traveling alone. Beside herself with fear and frustration, she finally decides to go to the authorities who also cannot help her. Then after many dead ends a note arrives for her brother at the hotel. She seeks out the sender of the note who then helps her unravel a very bizarre thrilling mystery about what the real story is all about. In many ways this reminded me of another one of my favorite thrillers called The Lady Vanishes by Alfred Hitchcock.

I have been a huge fan of old black and white movies since I was a kid. Yet in the last few years, I felt that I had already seen many of the types of movies that I love such as the old Hitchcock thrillers, and Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie, etc. I feel like I ran out of the real goodies. I also love old love stores like the Enchanted Cottage, Carrie (with Sir Laurence Olivier), Ghost and Mrs. Muir, etc. You can imagine my surprise and delight when I found this film. I would highly recommend this to any of you that love old black and white movies, especially thrillers. One of the best films I have ever scene. Do you have any favorite old movies? I'd love to hear about them, maybe something I need to see.

The Littlest Birds

I heard this song maybe a year or two back, it was on a children's music cd by Putamayo. I liked it right away. The video is a little odd but the words and melody are sweet. Tell me what you think. Sorry for the ringing at the beginning, it was the only version I could find.

Story Of Love

We went to see this play downtown Chicago at the Chicago Tabernacle Church. Our in-laws invited us. While not being overly religious I have to admit that this production was amazing. It was so intense and sad it had the three of us females crying and two very stubborn males on the edge of their pews. I felt that it was such an excellent touch to the Easter weekend. My husband who is not easily impressed by this kind of thing was blown away. He kept asking me what it was about before we went, and I kept saying that it was the story of Jesus. And for those of us who do not possess all the biblical knowledge regarding his life, it broke it down quite simply. It was very graphic and disturbing, people were discouraged from bringing children under five. I would say that it should not be seen by children under ten or eleven. It was first come first serve and the lines wrapped around the blocks. Excellent!

2 Toots Whistle Stop Cafe

So the other day we hit the 2 Toots Whistle Stop Cafe in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Daddy and I had a doctors appointment so Papa and Sessie (grandpa & grandma) watched Little Buddy for an hour and then wanted to take him to eat lunch at 2 Toots. We told them that we wanted to take him ourselves to another train cafe so they said we should all go together. It was fun! It's just north of the Metra tracks in down town Glen Ellyn, Illinois not but a few towns away from where we live but the town next to our doctors office. There are train cafe's throughout "the land," but this is one of the few that have every single seat on the tracks. There is a toy train that travels on tracks through the whole restaurant. When you order food, they put your order on the train when it's done. They blow the authentic train whistle when each order is done and heading out to the destined table. Then the waiter or waitress follows the train and unloads your food to you. It's pretty cute! The food was pretty good. They play oldies music and there is various train decor scattered throughout the restaurant. Kids love it! We got Little Buddy chicken nuggets and a fruit cup but also brought our own apple, banana, and drink cause he is such a big eater and giving him a cup with a removable straw always ends up being a wet, sad, mess. I would highly recommend this restaurant for little kids, they love it. If you don't live by this one, they most likely have a train restaurant by you. Toot toot!

Public Enemies

I am very excited for Public Enemies to release on July 1st! Not only am I a huge fan of gangsters from way back when, I am also a huge fan of Johnny Depp. I love period films from the early 1900's, I think it reminds me of a simpler time and my grandparents. My grandfather was pretty wild. He was in a barbershop quartet, and a big drinker (and player) in Chicago back in those days. He has been gone for years now but for many years he told us how he would run into Al Capone now and again. What a time it must have been. It all seems so historically exciting when I think about it. My grandmother on my father's side used to hide guns under her dress for the mafia because the cops could not check there. Wild huh? Anyway, tell me what you think of the trailer. I was about to post some not very pretty pictures of my pathetic sprouting bulbs, then I wasn't in the mood to hook up the camera, etc. So, here is a trailer. I love Metacafe, there is a post to blogger option. So easy!

Daily Inspiration

I need to work on this cause many times the end of the day I think of all that's wrong in my world and think and think and think, often not positively. Picked this one for today too for Nadine at In Blue Ink. Hope you are working your way through everything. Funny thing about blog friends, even though you will probably never meet our lives can become attached through our blogging. Feeling sadness for our fellow bloggers, happiness, disagreement but yet appreciate the differences, laughing together and finding beauty in some of the same things in life. Meanwhile always hoping for good things for each other. Despite the pregnancy, going through some of my own garbage right now too. Hang in there!

May Not Look Like Much Now . . . . . . . .

But it will by November 16th. Can you believe that with all the pain I was having and then referred to the specialist for fertility issues? I had to go to the doctor for the bronchitis I had in March. The day before my appointment I figured I should check even though I highly doubted it because they were probably going to give me a prescription(s). So there I sat on my little porcelain thrown waiting and watching staring at the blinking hourglass with all my concentration. Then, there it was, PREGNANT. I nearly fell on the floor.

Since that day I have had quite a different pregnancy than with Little Buddy. I am tired, blue, nauseous (without vomiting, so far), having pains and cramping, dizzy, restless, lacking an appetite, crabby, sciatic pinching in my left cheek, and oh yes, I am breaking out. What is up with that? I have no idea what to think. I know that every pregnancy can be different but I really wonder if this time's a girl? I am learning more and more that many women feel great with a boy and then yucky with a girl which I'm sure isn't always the case but very common.

7 more months to go. Second pregnancies are so different in so many other ways. I think I have more concerns about Little Buddy not being the star anymore. Scared about the cesarean because I know what to expect, and they suck, and I have no choice because I have a bicornuate uterus. Worried about 2 kids in diapers, getting rest with a toddler, being able to leave the house and still take Little Buddy out to do fun stuff. Somebody thinking they can swoop in and grab up Little Buddy to "help me out." I've gotten so comfortable with it being me and Little Buddy. So many friends of mine found themselves unable to do nearly as much once they had 2 children.

Don't get me wrong, I am also thrilled. I think it is a girl. I am a thinker, and I am carefully thinking out how we will work things. Where everyone will sleep in our little house. How will Daddy adjust? Me? Little Buddy? Sheesh, think there's smoke coming out of my ears. I better relax for a bit.

Can any of you other moms out there relate? Did you feel sad having a second? I see so many moms on Baby Story crying about their only/first born's at home while they are in the hospital delivering. I feel a lot like that right now. Brother, can't even imagine what a basket case I will be on that day or all these days leading up to it.

Play Date Wednesday

Going to an old friends house today for a play date. She is also a sahm and used to be a nutritionist before she had her son. She is married to a doctor and lives "there."

We hadn't talked for over 10 years and bumped into each other one day in the mall play area. Had no idea that we were both sahm's, lived near each other, or both had little boys just a few months apart, had problem pregnancies, both hate our MIL's, AND both also had a horrible time breastfeeding. Needless to say, we are both very glad we have found each other again.

Wondering if a maid will answer the door? Ha! I'm sure she doesn't have a maid but curious if she is still as down to earth as she used to be, or if I will be amazed an awed by my tour of her spacious home?

I love when I go to someone's house that is big and beautiful and they are raving to me about throw pillows that they picked up at a garage sale, etc. When someone starts talking about all the people they hired and all the mistakes they made, it's time for me to get my coat. Any of you ever experience elitest attitudes and run the other direction? Or like it?
