Hard to believe that Sesame Street is turning 40! I will be 37 in February and remember watching it as a small child on our little black and white tv with a dial and rabbit ears back in the good old 70's. Is the show really just a few years older than me? Now my son watches it and I can still love and appreciate it 40 years later. I was trying to think who my favorite character was as a chid. I think I was torn between Grover and Ernie. I wonder how many more years it will be around? Happy birthday Sesame Street!

Holy smokes...I just noticed your baby countdown says 2 days to go!!
Anyway...Sesame Street. I'm not quite okay with the new format. But my children--the ones who Matter--don't seem to mind. The 4-year-old was quick to point out the new ending. I'm totally a Cookie Monster fan. Love that blue monster. :D
Oh Ernie I do like when he laughs at Burt or when he sinks his rubber ducky song.ANd I love the count!Happy Birthday sesame street, I still love it
Dori, I know 2 days. I am terrified and thrilled and exhausted all at once. Sesame Street is not what it used to be but at least I never have to worry about what they have on there, ever. I have not noticed the new ending? Cookie Monster is awesome but they are making him less about cookies and more about food? What's up with that? So kids don't obsess about sweets I suppose.
Mrs. O, I love Ernie and I think I always compared him to Bert when I was a kid. Why is Bert always so cross and exasperated? I think the count scared me as a kid but he probably the one who taught me to count too :)
I think that a part of childhood is growing up with Sesame Street, and my kiddies LOVE Elmo now. Snuffleupagus (sp?) was my favorite, right after Big Bird.
Thanks for this post! It made me reminisce...in fact, I may just make a post of my own now. I hope you don't mind I post a link to this post on it!
Feel free Natalie to link anytime. I was thinking of watching this as a kid and remembering our old black and white tv and then my mind started to wander about lots from way back then too. Happy posting! I'll hope to read it before "you know what" occurs :)
Just wanted to drop a little note to wish you good luck Friday! We will be thinking of you and your baby, tell the dh to drop a line letting us know how it went!
hugs

I loved grover. I had a book where grover was trying to hide in the pages and I could always spot him. So he finally begged me to not see him. It was cute.
