I am in shock and want to cry when I heard that Bakers Square is filing chapter 11 and closing 56 restaurants. I love Bakers Square, especially their pies. I also have my favorite meal from there which I haven't had since shortly after delivering little buddy. The same meal I ate the night I delivered and then hurled the next morning in my hospital bed while nursing. It is a chicken fingers dinner (w/ extra honey mustard sauce please) with seasoned french fries, I add on the garden salad w/ ranch dressing. Then I top it off with pie. My favorite pies from Bakers Square are pecan, chocolate cream (w/the mini chocolate chips on top), french apple, & strawberry rhubarb. I truly probably like them all but those are my favorites. It saddens me that they may go under and I see most of the locations by my house are already closed. Not sure about the one by the mall yet? I'm afraid to drive by. I have grown up with Bakers Square and remember when they were called Poppin Fresh Pies. Guess I will have to go and have my favorite meal there one last time if I can find one that is still open. Oh the loss of Baker's Square. I too remember when it was Poppin' Fresh and you returned the tin for the take home pies. We used to go there all the time because my mum has a thing for their french silk pie. I for one liked that I could get stawberry-rhurbarb, which is sort of a rarity. And I remember you telling me about your trip to Baker's Square the night you had the little guy. Memories...like the corners of my mind...misty water colored memories...
OH NO! Eats some pie for me! Bakers Square is not out here where we live... French Silk pie! That is the only place I know that has French Silk pie! I use to get the best salads there too. Boo! I hope they are still open when I visit the midwest this summer.
