Drive By Blogging

Just a few notes about life right now over here. Hope you are all having a great Monday.

- I am currently down 30 pounds and gained a total of 36 pounds during this pregnancy. I would like to be 30 pounds less than that but I will cheer for joy when I hit my conception weight. Need to keep up the calories to produce milk.

- Not too into the holidays this year. I mean, I am as far as it being just our little family. But, with all the 4 different Christmases we usually do, it's just way too much for me to do all that this year, especially without Cop Dad. I'll be lucky if I get shopping done for just the 4 of us. Christmas for Little Buddy this year is going to be alot of fun!

- Getting sick. Little Buddy just getting over whatever yuck he had. Fever for days and lots of him up in the middle of the night wanting Mommy and Daddy.

- Little Munchkin just loves to sleep all day. Not sure how much you can wake a newborn up during the day, not too successful with that. It's been lots of breastfeeding and little sleep. Though there have been a few fabulous nights of 5 hours, then 3 and another 2. I could handle that. Those are not that frequent but they should start to occur more frequently soon . . . . . . hopefully?

- Cop Dad's FMLA leave is done this Friday. Not sure how I'll handle the chaos without him. How on earth do moms do it? I have a new respect for any moms that have more than one small child and look "put together" and happy . . . . . . and awake?!.

- Little Buddy is going through some kind of phase where he is reverting back to some of his baby ways. Like crying A LOT!!!, lots of whining and he has suddenly gotten really, really, L-O-U-D! Eight pm is happy hour over here now :)

- Little Munchkin is almost rolling over by herself already. Wow!

- Wondering when the bags under my eyes will leave? They have been here since late pregnancy and got worse after my cesarean. I hope they are not here to stay.

- I feel so blessed to have one boy and one girl. I did not think I really cared because I am not a frilly pinky ribbons mommy. I caught myself talking to Little Munchkin the other night and telling her I was really glad I would be able to pass down my doll house furniture to her when we get her a dollhouse some day.

- I am very done with football season. Was done with it before it began. Not-a-fan.

No pictures? You KNOW that's the only reason we come around is to see baby pictures. :)

Seriously though, glad you're hanging in there... mine were 20 months apart and it didn't kill me... of course Husband was a flyer then, not a LEO, but samesame.

Enjoy it... next time you turn around one will be off to college and the other joining the military. :)

Love you!!!!

Great to hear something from you--even if it is in a drive by form. But sometimes that's all my brain is capable of, so I understand!

It took me forever to venture out on my own with my two when the baby was newborn. In fact, she was 4 months old before I went somewhere other than the grocery store where they were both containable in cart and sling--and then ended up in the ER because the oldest fell and needed four stitches in his head. But then, after dealing with both of them in the ER by myself, I felt like I could handle anything. Now the three of us go everywhere together. And I still have bags under my eyes.

I also remember clinging to my husband the day he went back to work. I was terrified of facing the night alone with a 1-month-old and a 2-year-old...neither of whom were sleeping through the night.

You'll make it! And you all will eventually start sleeping again--I promise!

OK Ladies,
Here's a picture :)
Thanks for all the thoughts and comments. Thanks Dori for adding your own personal experiences too. You really never know if you are alone in how you feel until someone else tells you how it was for them when they were in the same spot. Phew :)

Thanks ML,
I am so grateful to have a non-generic baby and completely take your comment as a total compliment!!! I love character and uniqueness and not being generic. You rock!

So glad I stopped by your blog! I thought, well, maybe she's posted a little something but probably not. And you did! Wow. I couldn't do that when I had just one baby. I have no idea how you do two. I'm so proud of you! You have two beautiful, sweet little children. Life is grand, and I hope you can sleep soon. More 5-hour stretches, lil one!!

Thanks for the updates! As for going from one to two, it was seriously easier than going from none to one since I had no clue what I was doing!

Plus, baby carriers have become my best friend, which I still throw my princess in when I can tell I need her "contained" on an outing.

Congrats on losing the baby weight so quickly! I can't believe Munchkin is on the verge of rolling over. My second grew WAY too fast and I wasn't as happy to see her hit milestones as I was with my first. We were cleaning up our computer and looked at some family videos from last year, and I can't BELIEVE how big my babies are now!

Awww! Look at that beautiful baby with the dark hair! I was scared to death to be left alone for 6 months it seems after I have a baby. It sounds like you are doing good so far! How much time did hubby end up having off? I miss having the little needy baby. This year went by way too fast even though the first few months are so hard and drag by and I can't wait for the baby to be sitting up and everything.
