Squash Fans: Ever Make One Of These?

I picked up this carnival squash at the apple farm a few weeks ago cause I thought it was pretty to set out and then eventually be part of a meal too. Anyone out there have any experience with baking, roasting, or cooking one of these? I make butternut squash and acorn squash in the oven in covered Corning Ware with water then top with butter. Figured I'd do the same but thought I'd post just in case one of my mad cooking blog pals had a better idea?

1 Acorn Squash, halved
2 pats of butter
2 teaspoons of honey or maple syrup
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
Salt

after you scoop out the seeds, split ingredients and put on each halves. bake at 375 for an hour or til soft. ITs really creamy and has a yummy candy like coating. The KIDS will actually eat it lol

I googled it:

"This squash can be baked, pureed, or steamed to be served as a side dish seasoned with butter and herbs, or used as a base for soups and stews.
When preparing in an oven, the squash can be cooked whole or cut in half lengthwise from the stem to the bottom. Place the squash with the skin side down in a dish containing 1/2 inch of water. Cover the dish and bake for 1/2 to 3/4 hour at 375 degrees. In a microwave, cook for approximately 20 minutes in a dish with a loose cover of plastic wrap. This squash is available year round, but best during August to October."

Have fun!

Thanks CW!
I'm all into this this year. I love squash but Cop Dad does not and I made butternut the other day and he could not get enough of it. I did the covered water baking method and hoped to get the same result with him this time too but thought that this squash may not be as good with just butter. Always happy when I can get family to eat healthy stuff . . . . . AND like it. Thanks again!

I'm glad you posted this because I love cooking squash in autumn, but usually just do the same thing over and over (pats of butter and brown sugar).
