You've Been So Good To Me!

I would like to take the time to tell you about some companies that have gone above and beyond. I had different issues with their products or services and they stepped up and took care of me. To many people this may seem like no big deal, but to me it means everything. In this day and age of high prices, recalls, and being charged for every little thing I feel that it's very important to give credit where credit's due.

First problem I had was when I found a string in my Kashi cereal. I like to believe that I am doing something good by eating this cereal. It is organic and costs a little extra but I get very little sugar and 6 grams of fiber every time I eat it. It's called Autumn Wheat and it looks a little like mini shredded wheats. They are great with a cup of tea for a snack too (I always eat them dry but with a big glass of water). Not long ago I bit into some and noticed there was a string holding three biscuits together. It was gross. I immediately called the company and got the most awesome customer service woman on the phone Carol from New Jersey (+ the accent). She was so down to earth, funny, and friendly. She told me that she would send some FREE coupons for my trouble. I got them quickly and was back to eating my favorite cereal instantly. Thank you Kashi!

My next issue was with Earth's Best Baby Food. I buy so much baby food it's not even funny. I also buy their cereal, cookies, pasta, crackers, teething biscuits. Their coupons are hard to come by. I one day discovered that they usually had a coupon in the free magazine at Babies R Us, so I'd grab one every time I went. They also have a coupon on the back of each box of cereal. This is hardly anything but I'll take what I can get. I then discovered that you can print up coupons on their website. So I tried but could not cause their website did not support MACs. Boo! All the money I could be saving if only I could print up those darn coupons. Sure I know people with PC's or I could go to the library but what a pain in the &@#%! Then one day I decided to call and see if they would send me some coupons. They were so extremely nice and said, "Sure!" Then I got the coupons a few days later. They sent me at least 10 coupons. It was a coupon assortment. I got a few FREE baby foods, FREE toddler snacks, a few $1 off and a few 55 cents off and they sent it with a very nice letter too. I was thrilled. Thank you Earth's Best!

Lastly, we received a team bib as a gift made by the Mcarthur Towel Company. The plastic snap broke which left the bib completely useless. Not only that it broke off and created a choking hazard. The bib was in perfect condition otherwise. So I Googled the Mcarthur Company and found their website. I wrote in to them and told them of my dilemma making sure to emphasize how the snap was potentially a choking hazard. The customer service employee e-mailed me back immediately and asked me to e-mail her back with what team bib it was and she would send it out immediately. It came yesterday and we got not one but 2 brand new bibs as replacements. I was completely thrilled and impressed. I e-mailed her as soon as I could and told her she was an asset to the company. She e-mailed me back today saying that it made her day and to give my baby a squeeze. What a cool person. I threw one of the bibs on baby and e-mailed a picture right back to her. She loved it and said he was such a cute baby. Thanks Dianne Finnegan of McArthur Company in Baraboo Wisconsin!

That's the kind of stuff I missed when I finally left customer service. I loved giving excellent, personalized service to my customers. I worked in a call center for a while, and though a lot of people hated it, I loved it. I loved becoming a part of someone's life for a few minutes, helping them buy shoes for their son's soccer practice, picking out running clothes with them, etc. Also loved being a hotel desk clerk. It was fun to go "beyond" and provide concierge service. If I suggested a good restaurant, sometimes they would bring me back their leftovers or a piece of cheesecake. :)

Wow! That's awesome. Good customer service is hard to come by sometimes.
