I just found out about this the other day. I had never heard of it before then. I guess I have always been an outdoors kind of person and thought it sad that some people I came across in my life did not have the same appreciation for being outside, nature, gardening, walking, hiking, camping, etc. I believe this wholeheartedly. Do you get out as much as possible even if it's just for a little walk or eat snacks on the deck, etc.? I think it's vital for kids to be outside A LOT. Little Buddy is always in our backyard. Cop Dad feels it's detrimental for kids to be able to play with sand and picking up leaves, watching bugs and chipmunks and getting dirty too. Thankfully our backyard has a 6 foot fence and high gate latches, a fabulous hand-me-down play set and sandbox and lots of plants and trees and bugs. Oh, and our goofy dog too.
It is not beyond adults to have this disorder either. Have you ever met someone who literally hates being outside always? It makes me truly wonder. Though, there are times in my life and of the year that being outside is more or less desirable than others. This has NOT been my yard work and outdoorsy summer. Though I have loved to go out and hang with a curious Little Buddy and try to grab our meal and plunk down at the patio table with the family or by myself whenever possible.
So, are you the outdoorsy type? Even if you don't go camping and that kind of thing? Would you gladly eat outside if the weather permitted over eating inside? Do you camp or sit outside and read or try to get outside for your break at work? Do your kids get out?
I have yet to read this book, but I think this guy's onto something.

We're all about the outdoors! One of the reasons I love my job--it's all about getting kids outside and doing stuff! But I can totally see how a large portion of the population are suffering from a nature deficiency.
I am such a big believer in this and we all spend lots of time outside whether it's kicking a soccer ball in the backyard, weeding, or dinner al fresco.
Sometimes I find the most peace and contentment when I'm outside, though I've never been one to "rough it" in a tent. My brother brought us all these hammocks from Brazil that we've strung up in my parent's yard. It's been AWESOME! I just wish nice weather lasted longer over here so we could enjoy it more. Sigh.
It's a great book--I highly recommend reading it.
